R is for Retinol
Of all the steps in the GRASS skin regimen, retinol is one of the most important and proven products to combat aging. Out of the thousands of creams and serums promising to turn back the clock and reverse the signs of aging, retinol is the only one considered to be the gold standard for treatment of aging skin.
What makes retinol so great?
Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A, a fantastic resource for skin. Vitamin A helps to protect the skin from damage as well as helps speed up the rebuilding of collagen loss. Vitamin A will also help give your skin a nice, healthy glow.
What does Retinol do?
When adding Retinol to your skin regimen, your skin will become smoother and thicker which will minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dark blemishes will become lighter resulting in a smoother and more even skin tone.
How should I use Retinol?
If you have never used a Retinol product, you need to start out slow, applying at night only a few times a week. Retinol is a photosensitive product and going out in the sun can cause adverse effects. When you first start using Retinol, your skin may peel, flake, turn red or become dry. These side effects will subside after a couple of weeks leaving you with gorgeous, glowing skin.
